Five Under the Radar Players You Need to See This NCAA Tournament

2 min read

by Waterboy Sam Meyerkopf

There’s nothing like finding that Stephen Curry, Bryce Drew, Lorenzo Charles, Gerry McNamara… a player that's capable of a great game or moment.  The things we remember March Madness by.  So here are five under-the-radar guys you don’t know yet that could have a big moment in this year's NCAA Tournament.

Tyler Harvey, Guard, Eastern Washington

Meet college basketball’s leading scorer and a sure to be nation sensation if the Eastern Washington Eagles can advance to the second weekend of the Big Dance.  POINT 3 caught Harvey twice this season in person, and he didn’t disappoint with a couple effortless shooting performances. Harvey is a sleepy style scorer who when he gets hot starts shooting from places a former Davidson star used to dial up from.  He’s deadly from a step over half court.  Hand down, swish.

Josh Adams, Guard, Wyoming

Just get out the way.  GET OUT!  Josh Adams is channeling his inner Nate Robinson and tearing down rims.  After seeing him live last week at the Mountain West Conference tournament, there was no way Adams wouldn't be on this list.  He won MVP of the tournament.

And when the Wyoming team as asked post game who liked to dunk the most, swiftly Adams just said “Me.”

Mamadou N’Diaye, Center, UC-Irvine

The biggest player you will see on a court. Ever.  He dunks without jumping and blocks shots with the slightest of arm movements.  If you haven’t seen the sight that is Mamadou, please do so immediately.

RJ Hunter, Forward, Georgia State

Playing for the hometown Georgia State Panthers, we had to give RJ a shout.  Someone his type with NBA-caliber long range shooting means that no game is ever out of reach.  Late in a big game, one flick of RJ’s wrists and the Panthers could be a bracket buster.

Peter Hooley, Guard, Albany

He already hit the game-winning shot to get his team to the tournament and that was after the loss of his mother just a few weeks ago.  Talk about the toughest kid in the tournament, I wouldn’t want to mess with Hooley and the Great Danes.
